Frequently Asked Orthodontic Questions – Allen, TX

Educating Patients is One of Our Specialties

We talk to patients and families every day who have questions about our orthodontic office and our orthodontic treatments. Our goal is to educate as many patients as possible, which is why we’ve offered some answers to the most common questions we’ve heard over the years. Feel free to take a few minutes to review them. If you have additional questions or want more details, do not hesitate to reach out to us. Dr. Hanson are happy to respond and schedule a FREE consultation with you if needed.

Do you treat adults as well as children?

We sure do! Our orthodontic office offers orthodontic care designed to help patients of all ages. You don’t have to settle for a crooked smile just because you’re an adult. We offer more subtle options like Invisalign and clear ceramic braces as well if you’d prefer to straighten teeth without making significant changes to your professional image or day-to-day habits.

When should my child see an orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists notes that children should be evaluated by an orthodontist once they reach seven years of age. Even if your child does not need braces, Dr. Hanson can still confirm if alignment issues are present and begin planning for early intervention. As a result, we’re more capable of removing the need for invasive or longer treatments later in their life.

How is Invisalign different from traditional braces?

To apply gentle pressure to teeth, Invisalign uses a series of clear alignment trays rather than brackets and wires. Each set of trays must be worn for about 20 to 22 hours a day. After wearing them for about two weeks, you simply move on to the next pair. Since these trays are extremely transparent, there is very little impact on your teeth’s appearance. Once you wear them, they basically disappear!

Why should I see a board-certified orthodontist?

It’s true that some general dental offices will provide orthodontic services, but a board-certified orthodontist has completed many additional years of advanced training and passed a comprehensive and rigorous exam specifically on orthodontic issues and procedures. When you visit a board-certified orthodontist like Dr. Hanson, you can feel far more confident knowing your smile alignment is in skilled and knowledgeable hands.

How long will it take to get my retainer?

With the help of our 3D printer, we can both design and create a retainer for you right here in our orthodontic office. That means you won’t need to wait for weeks on end just for your retainer to arrive. You can even get it the same day you visit!

Do you accept my dental insurance?

Our orthodontic office is in-network with most PPO dental insurance plans, such as Aetna, Delta Dental, Guardian, and many others. To see if we work with your dental insurance, please give us a call.

How do you make orthodontic treatment affordable?

On top of being in-network with most dental insurance, we accept financing through CareCredit. By enrolling into a plan from them, you can break the total cost of your care into monthly payments. Feel free to explore the special offers available on our website as well to take advantage of even more savings.
